Q: How do I get your downloads into my game?
All of our
files are zipped and require a program such as WinZip, WinRar or
SimsFileMaid2 to extract them. Make sure your TS2 or Bodyshop is not
running while you do this. All files, except for houses and lots,
are extracted to the My Docs/EA Games/The Sims2/Downloads folder. Houses and
lots are in a Sims2Pack file and if you double-click on this
file, the package installer will automatically install it for you in
the My Docs/EA Games/The Sims2/LotCatalog folder. You can extract the
Sims2Pack file to the My Docs/EA Games/The Sims2/Packaged Lots folder if you
want to keep it. By default, house and lot files are first sent to
the Teleport Folder, then moved into your Housing Bin the next time
you start the game.
We recommend that you download and install the
Sims2CleanPackInstaller at Mod the Sims2 to ensure that you do not
inadvertently install any unwanted content that could be included in
Sims2Pack files. This program will open instead of the Maxis package
installer when you double-click on a Sims2Pack file and can be found
here:
http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/
Q: I still can't find the downloaded objects in my game.
Why?
Make sure you
have downloaded and installed the Color Options Enabler found at the
SimPE site here:
http://sims.ambertation.de/realdownload.shtml Some
recolors will not show without it. Credit to Numenor and RGiles for
the creation of this package.
If an object
file is a recolor, you will find it by clicking on the base object
in the game. A window will appear that shows the base object
and all of its recolors. Be sure to use the arrow to scroll to the
very beginning of the recolors to find which one you want. Custom
recolors and meshes should display a small daisy symbol in their
picture. If the item recolored is a custom mesh and not a
Maxis item, make sure you have also installed the base mesh.
Q: Can files be placed in sub-folders within the Downloads
folder?
Yes - below are listed the types of files that can be placed in
sub-folders:
floors * walls * recolored objects *
object meshes * some hacked objects (refer to their
individual instructions) * custom careers *
MESHES for clothing and genetics
These items cannot be placed in sub-folders:
sims * skins * anything created with
Bodyshop, such as genetics, clothing & glasses
Your custom content can be scanned and organized with the use of a
program called SimPE, which can be found here:
http://sims.ambertation.de/index.shtml You will find
tutorials and information about this program there as well.
